Honouring the Iconic Merlion
Why Merlion-shaped tarts? Beyond its fame as an iconic landmark, the Merlion carries profound cultural significance. Its fish body symbolises Singapore’s humble origins as a fishing village, known historically as "Temasek," meaning "Sea Town," while its lion head signifies courage and pride, capturing the essence of Singapore: Singapura, the “Lion City.”
By crafting our pineapple tarts in this meaningful form, we pay tribute to Singapore’s journey, blending the beauty of tradition with creative innovation (Kele style!).

This experiential workshop is brought to life through a collaboration between Kele and Tea Chapter, Singapore’s oldest and largest teahouse. Together, we invite you into an immersive experience of flavour, culture, and artisanal craftsmanship.
In the cosy, heritage-rich environment of Tea Chapter, you'll learn to craft your own Merlion-shaped pineapple tarts under the gentle guidance of our pastry experts. From shaping the golden pastry to generously filling each tart with Kele’s signature pineapple jam, every step of this experience celebrates the beauty of handmade tradition.
